Anderson Silva is a professional mixed martial artist from the South American country of Brazil and is currently contracted to the Ultimate Fighting Championship where he holds the UFC Middleweight Championship and he is also the longest serving champion in any weight division in the history of the promotion. He has a winning streak of 14 matches, which is also an unmatched record in the history of the promotion and he has also had the most number of successful title defenses as well in the UFC. Dana White, the President and heart beat of the UFC, once said that there has been no greater fighter in the UFC than Silva and also proclaims him to be the greatest of all mixed martial artist.

Multiple publications from all over the world have ranked Anderson Silva as the best Middleweight fighter in the world at the moment and according to magazines and websites such as Sherdog, ESPN, MMAFighting.com, Yahoo Sports and various other publications, a consensus has been reached that Silva is the best fighter in the world at the moment, when it comes down to pound for pound fighting. Silva has already carved his name in the history books as the last ever Middleweight champion in Cage Rage and has also been the Middleweight champion at Shooto. Silva has been quite the journeyman in his career as a mixed martial artist and apart from UFC, Cage Rage and Shooto; he has also fought for mixed martial arts promotions such as Rumble on the Rock as well as the Pride Fighting Championship.

Born on the 14th of April, 1975 in the city of Sao Paulo in Brazil as Anderson da Silva, he is a master of Muay Thai striking, a martial arts form that is very difficult to perfect, and also holds the black belt in martial arts forms such as Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Tae kwon do as well apart from being the holder of a yellow rope in Capoeira. Anderson Silva began his career as a Welterweight in 1997 and started his career off with two wins on the trot. He then moved to Cage Rage and fought for various promotions all over the world before he was signed by the UFC on a multi-fight contract and since his arrival to the UFC, there has been no stopping Anderson Silva and Dana White’s comments about him have been justified by his performances.
