Anderson Silva is not the greatest, says Sonnen

Georges St. Pierre and not Anderson Silva, is the greatest fighter ever to step inside the Ultimate Fighting Championship of the UFC Octagon, according to former two division contender Chael Sonnen.

The American Gangster is known for his over the top trash talking and he has made quite a name for himself doing that and it seems that he has carried that habit well into retirement and his new career as an analyst. The Oregon native made an appearance at ESPN MMA in his role as an analyst where he discussed in detail, the careers of two of the greatest fighters in the history of Mixed Martial Arts – the former UFC Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and the former UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

The Spider was recently hauled for failing a pre-fight dope test with his B-sample also testing positive for the use of performance enhancing drugs putting his legacy as the greatest fighter in UFC history into question.

According to Sonnen, the pound for pound category has changed a lot over the years and he is certain that for him, it is the Canadian who is the best.

He said that Rush was the top fighter but the UFC called a press meet and said that it was Anderson who was the best. He had the backing of UFC president Dana White as well and all of a sudden, the media began to promote him as the top ranked pound for pound fighter in the world while St. Pierre was pushed to second.

Sonnen added that he is not kicking Anderson Silva when he is down but he has fought with him twice and has also worked with St. Pierre and it is clear to him that the Canadian is the better fighter of the two of them.
