Anderson Silva wants to box Roy Jones Jr.

Ultimate Fighting Championship or the UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva is a legend when it comes to Mixed Martial Arts and the promotion but he has put his future in the sport in doubt once again as he reiterated his desire to get inside the boxing ring, as he lobbies for a fight against Roy Jones Jr. and this is not the first time that The Spider has threatened to quit the Octagon for a career in the ring.

In 2009, he came very close to leaving the UFC for a clash against the former World Boxing Association or the WBA Heavyweight Championship title holder. However, during that time, the fight failed to materialize and the UFC head honchos had thought that idea had been dead and buried in his mind. Anderson Silva soon signed a multi fight deal with the UFC and committed his future with the promotion. However, Silva still hasn’t given up hopes of landing the bout when he spoke to an American media outlet recently.

During that interview, the Brazilian also classed a potential match against the 44 year old boxer as a more interesting and intriguing prospect compared to a super fight against the UFC Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, a fight that has been talked up by both Dana White, the president of the UFC and the camp of The Spider.

Silva has a record of 16 unbeaten fights in his resume in the last few years and still going very strongly and he believes once his MMA career is over, he could make the switch to the ring without much difficulty. He mentioned that everyone is focused on something and he added it is something that he would love to do. Anderson Silva mentioned when he leaves the UFC, he could box Roy Jones.
