Chael beat Anderson 5 rounds out of 7. Anderson finished both fights.

Chris has beat Anderson 4/4 rounds. The fight was just getting started both
times. Shitty ending for everyone involved. Would rather have seen Anderson
not clown and get legit KO’d….

People are asking will his leg be stronger or weaker after it heals. Here
are the facts from a Dr. in the field of bone breakage and reconstruction.
THE FACTS Just like muscle, human bone grows and strengthens under
pressure, and weakens when barely put to use.
THE FACTS: Just like muscle, human bone grows and strengthens under
pressure, and weakens when barely put to use.
This concept — that bone adapts to pressure, or a lack of it — is known as
Wolff’s law. It’s the reason astronauts return with reduced bone density
after floating in microgravity. And conversely, it explains why studies
show that tennis players and fencers develop greater bone mass in their
    dominant arms and legs.

But this adaptive measure goes only so far. Despite one misconception,
there is no evidence that a bone that breaks will heal to be stronger than
    it was before.

When a bone fractures, it begins the healing process by forming a callus at
the fracture site, where calcium is deposited to aid rebuilding, said Dr.
Terry D. Amaral, director of pediatric orthopedic surgery at Montefiore
Medical Center in the Bronx. In most cases, a plaster cast is applied to
protect the fracture site. But because there is no weight or pressure on
the limb, it becomes weaker — except at the site of the callus, where
    calcium is being deposited.

“The area that’s healing is undergoing rapid mineralization, but because
you can’t use it, the rest of the bone is demineralized,” Dr. Amaral said.

As a result, there may be a brief period in the healing process when the
fracture site is stronger than the surrounding bone. But they later reach
equal strength, and the fracture site is no more or less likely to break
again. Dr. Amaral said that in studies in which healed bones were subjected
to bending and twisting forces, the repaired bones were capable of breaking
anywhere, including the fracture site. “They never comment that it’s
stronger or weaker than the rest of the bone,” he said.

THE BOTTOM LINE Healed bones are not stronger than they were before a

Silva needs to retire and leave the UFC while he still has some dignity and
    be known as the GOAT.

From a family of surgeons, head surgeons in various regions and functions,
Silva will be able to compete, but this is 1) a psychological weight , 2)
its not going to be as strong as a structure, even with the rod. 3) his leg
will be a liability in fights because fighters will target that spot, over
and over. its a weakness because muscle, ligaments, and bones are broken,
split, and torn. This requires years or conditioning. If you put silva in
a fight within a year or 1.5 years, this is re-injury waiting to happen and
this could be chronic pain for life. Not worth fighting for some time. He
will loose against fighters at the level of Weidman or possibly pierre.
aim for the shin and pound it… or the other hand silva lost a weapon..

did they really have to do all that inserting and stuff they couldnt just
hold it in place and let it heal by itself?

what this tells me is that Anderson will be out for a while to get healed,
he most likely will retire after this.
or once he heals up he might come back and have a new leg, i doubt it.

  • By eminemishh, January 22, 2015 @ 11:05 pm

It was announced that silva can fight again and he will recover, he said
himself he still wants to fight, so he can earn his way back up to a title

  • By skysteiner, January 22, 2015 @ 11:09 pm

there needs to be more videos like this

  • By lairdriver, January 22, 2015 @ 11:10 pm

I can’t see how Silva can continue after this. His Leg kicks are a part of
his arsenal more then most guys. The soft tissue, muscle and nerves get
distorted and damaged. It is a myth that bones grow stronger when they are
broken. In this case, he had metal inside his leg now to keep his lower leg
together. I can’t see him continuing after this, he also has to consider
quality of life issues later to. I just hope Dana doesn’t pull a GSP shit
fit and demand that Anderson come back and give the ‘fans what they want’

  • By Almir Preldzic, January 22, 2015 @ 11:48 pm

omfg i was cringing and moaning with anxiety the whole time during this
    video . . . fucks sake.
Surgeons deserve every penny for their work.
